What to Expect During a Drug Test

Drug testing is not painful. We do not require a blood sample and there are no injections involved. When you arrive at our center, be sure to inform us of any prescription or over-the-counter medications you are currently taking. After check-in, you will be provided with a sample cup and directed to a bathroom where you can wash your hands. You will then be asked to urinate into the toilet while collecting a sample in the provided container. If you do not need to urinate you can remain in the waiting area and drink water until you feel prepared.

Some patients wonder if alcohol will show up in their drug tests. Alcohol removes itself from the body much faster than a typical drug, but it may still show up in your test if you had a drink within the last 12 hours. Herbal supplements and vitamins can also impact the outcome of your test.
